What is Ascension Aerial Yoga?
Ascension Aerial Yoga is traditional yoga enhanced with a prop called a swing or a hammock. The swing allows you to defy gravity by doing a variety of inversions easily and effortlessly. It also allows you to hold postures longer and incorporate more challenging postures increasing flexibility, agility and overall body awareness without compressing the neck and back.
Ascension Aerial Yoga also allows decompression of tight joints and aligns the vertebrae of the spine while increasing overall health and physical agility.
What is Adaptive Yoga?
Adaptive Yoga is a practice for ALL individuals with physical disabilities or limitations. Inspired by Matthew Sanford, Founder of Mind Body Solutions and author of Waking, Adaptive Yoga encourages students to build a personal practice, guiding them toward a more profound connection between the mind and body. Postures in this practice become accessible to all bodies when the experience within these postures is more important than the form. Students are offered assistance and extra time in transitioning from one posture to the next.
Adaptive Yoga helps to improve breath awareness, sense of balance, direction, mobility, flexibility, strength and stability. It also builds confidence and encourages students to shift the focus from their limitations to their limitlessness.
How do I eat and live healthier?
Eating and Living Healthy is about finding balance. No diet or lifestyle change can be sustainable if they are done through deprivation or guilt. Finding ways to increase variety in life while learning moderation is key.
Incorporating small changes into our lives and letting them become sustainable habits that will last, is the first and most important step in creating a healthy and happy life!
How can I eat healthier on a budget?
Eating healthy and staying within a budget is not as difficult as you think. You might be surprised to know that spending just a little extra time, can save you money and increase your health. The more time you spend planning, prepping and cooking, the more money you’ll save!
Will Yoga help me lose weight?
Yoga is beneficial in so many ways. It can help you lose weight because you increase your activity level by adding in yoga. But more importantly, Yoga is a fantastic way to help you lower stress and manage stress more efficiently.
Being stressed releases hormones into your blood. Having these hormones over lengthy periods of time makes the body hold onto fat cells. This creates a buildup, especially around the mid-section of the body, and can be difficult to lose. Yoga helps us to focus on our breathing. Breathing has a direct and immediate impact on reducing stress. I recommend yoga to anyone. Start with a gentle, beginner’s class. Find a fantastic instructor. After the third session... you’ll feel a difference!
Can I try Aerial Yoga?
It is appropriate for all fitness levels. Size (up to and including 320 pounds), shape, or age is no longer an excuse or obstacle. Most people are surprised to learn they can achieve the majority of postures in their very first class, leaving them energized and excited for more.
Those with; Detached Retina, Glaucoma, Menstruation, High Blood Pressure, Low Blood Pressure, Pregnancy, Heart Problems, Botox Injections within past 24 hrs., Sinusitis, Sinus Issues, Vertigo, Ear Issues, Medications that cause dizziness, Severe Colds should NOT practice Aerial Yoga.
Also, Individuals with health issues need to refrain from inverting when experiencing a variety of ailments or conditions.
What do I wear to Aerial Yoga?
Comfortable clothing! Snug clothing that covers the underarm and backs of the knees. Avoid wearing jewelry (it can snag the material), lotions or oils.
Who should not practice Aerial Yoga?
