Instructor Spotlight: WENDY MILLER

Get to know Wendy:

Q: What brought you to yoga?

A: I was looking for a way to calm my mind and body. I'd heard of the benefits of yoga, but I was intimidated because I thought all

people who practiced yoga were thin and really flexible. I heard about Body Bliss and decided to give it a try. I have a dear friend who is also a student at this studio.

Q: At what point did you know yoga was a permanent part of your life?

A: After I began practicing aerial yoga. I was hooked!

Q: How has yoga helped you and when you started, did you realize that would be a benefit?

A: I have such better posture and core strength. These physical benefits were nothing compared to the mental and emotional strength I've gained, however. Also, I didn't have the level of body awareness that I have now.

Q: What is your favorite posture?

A: Believe it or not, Utkatasana or Chair Pose.

Q: How often do you practice?

A: I practice 5 days a week.

Q: What is your least favorite posture?

A: Back bends are challenging for me.

Q: What tip can you share for those starting out?

A: Listen to your body. Find what works for you. No instructor is going to give you the perfect practice every time, but find a way to make yoga work for YOUR body and YOUR mind.

Q: What tip can you share for those growing their practice?

A: Be open to different styles. Try different classes, watch videos.

Q: What is your favorite color?

A: Yellow

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Right now, I'm obsessed with avocado toast

Q: Can you share your favorite recipe with us?

A: Wendy's Avocado Toast

1 egg

1 Slice Toast (I use sandwich thins, to save carbs)

1/2 avocado

Ricotta cheese

Salt and Pepper

Cayenne sauce (I use Franks Red Hot)

Fry egg to your specifications, it's generally better over easy or over medium. Meanwhile, toast the bread, and spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese on top. Slice the avocado, or mash it, whichever is your preference. Once the egg is cooked, place it gingerly on the avocado. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, drizzle with hot sauce if you like. Enjoy!!

Q: Besides yoga, what do you enjoy doing?

A: I enjoy volunteering for various civic organizations in the area, playing with my dogs and spending time with my family.

Q: What makes BodyBLISS a unique place to teach/practice?

A: I feel like we have fostered a welcoming environment for students of all levels, ages, sizes and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Q: Share your favorite quote.

A: This too shall pass
